Savita Bhabhi to be banned

The Union Ministry of Information and Technology seems all set to pull the plug on Savita Bhabhi, the sultry housewife heroine of a pornographic comic strip on the Internet. According to a report in Metro Now, the site seems set to be sent to Error 404 screen by the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) of the ministry.

According to the ministry, complaints have been pouring in against the adult comic strip which is largely a tale of a bored, very hungry, and no-holds-barred housewife, depicted through the travails of her everyday situations in which all that she and her visitors dream of is copulating with each other.

Dubbed as India's first online pornographic comic book, Savita Bhabhi emerged on the Net in March this year. The strip has large, full-screen high-resolution graphics that are very explicit and suggestive.

The site, which already boasts of 30,000 registered users, is updated daily with a new coloured cartoon. The website appears in English and a number of Indian languages, including Marathi, Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil and Malayalam, among others. There is also a forum available for questions or comments. The immediate reason behind banning the site is a recent incident in which a Class 5 student in Bangalore sent a sexually explicit MMS to his teacher. The obvious inspiration were said to be the sexcapades of Savita Bhabhi.

Sources in the ministry of information technology reportedly said that the government is waiting for a report from the Karnataka police to block the site as it is leaving a very negative impact on the impressionable minds. According to the law, CERT can only act when there is a complaint from an investigating authority.

The cartoons are especially disparaging as they depict Savita Bhabhi with all the symbolism of a married Hindu woman. Drawn in a true Hindu style, Savita Bhabi sports a traditional red bindi on her forehead and a mangalsutra around her neck even as she goes through her sexcapades.
